Although from Eastern Medicine, acupuncture is readily accepted in the Western world and has a growing body of evidence behind its efficacy. Support for the appropriate use of acupuncture can now be found in the World Health Organisation and the NICE guidelines for the management of low back pain.

We routinely use acupuncture to treat:

  • Low Back or Neck Pain
  • Tension Headache or Migraine
  • Neck & Shoulder Pain
  • Joint Pain from Arthritis
  • Referred Pain into Limbs

Auricular Acupuncture

We are delighted to be able to offer auricular acupuncture, delivered by our Chartered Physiotherapists, using the NADA protocol. The National Acupuncture Detoxification Association protocol (NADA) is one of the most commonly used forms of acupuncture treatment in the United States.  The NADA protocol has also been used successfully in specialist NHS clinics for the management of hot flushes and night sweats due to natural menopausal changes, cancer treatment including chemotherapy, thyroid dysfunction and other hormonal imbalances.

The NADA ear acupuncture protocol has been shown to:

  • Reduce sweats
  • Promote relaxation
  • Reduce anxiety, agitation and insomnia

NADA is a simple treatment that involves needle insertion at 5 ear points. Each session lasts approximately 40 minutes and the treatment protocol suggests a course of 8 sessions delivered over a 10 week period in order to receive full and lasting relief from your symptoms.

Treatments cost £40 per session, with each session lasting 40 minutes. You are welcome to pay for sessions as you attend, or pay for your course of treatment upfront at a reduced rate.

Testimonials

“I had heard about acupuncture to help with night sweats from a Facebook menopause forum. I spoke to Lisa about my main concerns which were the number of sweats I was having at work and the broken sleep. After about 4 sessions I started to really notice the level of sweats were reducing and then after more sessions number of sweats were coming down. I’ve had my 8 sessions and I’m delighted to no longer have such huge problems at work and my sleep is improved as a result of less sweats. I would definitely recommend this treatment.” – Linda M

“ My main problems were insomnia and worry which were made a lot worse by the menopause. I have tried every medication the GP can prescribe. I had the auricular acupuncture at the clinic as a desperate attempt to sleep better. I am delighted to say I now sleep up to 5 hours uninterrupted for the first time in over 5 years. This has had a massive impact on me and my family. Thank you all at Whitley Bay Clinic.” – Carole C
